Our baby area is a relaxed, caring and homely environment where our babies are given exceptional care. Babies are encouraged to explore their environment and the exciting learning activities continuously on offer to them. The babies are gently guided through their milestones in their development at their own pace using a range of fun activities planned for them on a daily basis depending on their developmental stage and individual needs.

Babies of all ages are encouraged to participate in all kinds of different activities. Regular daily activities consist of hand/finger and free painting, hand and eye coordination activities, sensory activities, going for walks, other various outdoor activities and several more

Our baby room has a range of equipment to cater for the nursery day:

Although the baby room has a structured daily routine, we are very flexible to suit routines that babies follow at home. We feel it is important to settle babies gently into our nursery day using a routine they are familiar and comfortable with

Items to bring to Nursery

Each new Baby is allocated a box within the room when they start nursery for their own belongings. This prevents you from having to remember to bring all of your baby’s belongings with you at the start of your busy day. Your baby’s key worker will inform you when your baby is in need of more items.

These items consist of:

  • A change of Spare clothes
  • Comforters
  • Sun cream/sun hat
  • Teething gel ( if given)
  • Nappy cream (if given)
  • Nappies
  • Wipes
  • Bottles
  • Tin of formula milk

Bottles and milk

As guided by the department of health and food standards agency we are required to make your baby’s bottles up on the premises as they are needed. We ask if you could bring in your baby bottles and a tin of your baby’s formula milk (you are welcome to leave these items in your nursery box and you will be informed by your baby’s key worker when more is required.)

We ask for new tinned formula milk after one month and any unused milk is returned home. We must inform you that a bottle of milk is strictly disposed of after one hour of preparation and all bottles are sterilised before use.

Nappies

We ask for you to supply nappies  for your child.  Some parents find it beneficial to leave one packet of nappies at nursery and your babies key worker will inform you when more nappies are required. We ask if all parents can supply wipes for their children.

Settling in

Before your baby starts, we recommend you come and visit us for a short time so you and your baby can become familiar with the environment and the baby room staff.  We offer two settling in sessions: The first session lasts an hour and the second lasts 1.5 hours. The child/baby is welcomed by the room staff, messages are handed over and the child will be left with the nursery staff. The staff will take pictures and give the parent an update about how the child is doing during their settle. This provides an opportunity for you and the carers to liaise about your baby, informing us of their individual ways, their routine, likes and dislikes and to ensure your baby settles into nursery the best possible way.

Parents as partners

Throughout your child’s time at nursery, we welcome telephone calls throughout the day if you require to find out how your child has been. Your child’s key worker will be more than happy to inform you of your child’s day, activities they have enjoyed and their general mood.

At the end of the nursery day, you will receive a notification on Tapestry informing you of activities your baby has enjoyed, what they have eaten, the times they have slept, nappy changes and any items that may be requested for your baby’s box.

Most importantly, your baby’s key person will always be available for a short chat at the end of the nursery day to liaise about your babies care, their nursery day in general, activities they enjoy or any queries and requests that you may have.
